SMS Consent & Opt-In

This page documents how Cyrcles account holders consent to send transactional SMS invites to friends who are not yet on the app. It is provided for transparency and for carrier / A2P campaign reviewers.

What messages we send

Cyrcles sends transactional SMS invites so an existing account holder can invite friends to join Cyrcles and/or view an activity they created. Messages are not a recurring marketing subscription.

Message frequency varies and is typically infrequent (as initiated by the account holder). Message and data rates may apply. Recipients may reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.

How end users consent (Message Flow)

  1. A user creates a Cyrcles account and verifies their own phone number.
  2. With contacts permission (optional), they add a friend's phone number to a private circle, or select off-app friends on the post-create / post-edit activity invite screen.
  3. Activity invite SMS is sent only after an explicit action: tapping Send to N people on the invite friends screen. The screen shows a text preview and a Skip option that sends nothing.
  4. Account holders can disable Text invites in Settings → Notifications. When Text invites is off, Cyrcles does not send SMS invites.
  5. The account holder provides numbers for people they know and initiates the message; recipients are not subscribed to a marketing list.

In-app Call to Action

After creating or editing an activity, if circle friends are not yet on Cyrcles, the account holder sees the invite screen below. They can select recipients, preview the exact text, Skip without sending, or tap Send to N people to authorize SMS delivery.

Explicit CTA: select friends, review the text preview, then tap Send to N people. Skip cancels without sending.
Confirmation after send: friends receive a text with a link to join Cyrcles.

Recipients can reply STOP to opt out of further Cyrcles messages, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.

Settings control

Account holders can turn off text invites at any time under Settings → Notifications → Text invites (“Send SMS to friends not on Cyrcles when you add or invite them”).

Settings → Notifications → Text invites lets account holders disable SMS invites.

Privacy commitments for SMS

  • We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.
  • SMS delivery providers process numbers only to send messages on our behalf.
